Another gem from Jacob

A few days before Father's Day, the boys and I were in the car discussing what we should get Dad. Jacob said it should be something he doesn't already have and never tried. I agreed and was pleased that he was already becoming a thoughtful gift giver. I asked him if he had any ideas, he did. I was interested to hear what he had obviously been thinking about that Dad didn't already have and never tried, when all I hear is, "How about a jackhammer?"

All I could do was laugh and say, "You're right, Dad doesn't have one of those." We talked about when you get a gift for someone, it should be something they don't have, as well as something they would be able to use and enjoy. We went with an ipod instead.

The Adventures of Parker

The other morning I was in the shower and I didn't even know Parker was in the bathroom too, until I stepped out and saw this.
He had found some lipstick and was thoroughly enjoying it.
I figured the trail was as follows -- he had dug his finger into it and then ate it (there was some on his teeth). He obviously didn't like the taste because he tried to spit it out and wipe it off (it was smeared on his mouth and on his hand and wrist). I figured he then tried to wipe it off on his hand with not much luck (it was still all over his hand and on his pj's as well).

My favorite was the little lipstick hand prints on the floor. You can kind of see one under his knee. We all knew this was coming, just not sure in what form or how often.

He's a cute little stink, but he keeps us on our toes.

Jacob's Graduation

How cute is this kid really? It was Jacob's preschool graduation last Friday and he did a great job. This is when he had first entered and was headed to the front.
The head teacher, Ms. Diane (in blue), was addressing the friends and families and what is my son doing? Waving frantically. (If you click on the picture you can see him just to the left of Ms. Diane, in full wave.) He did really well though, he actually sang the songs when the other kids were, and didn't even fidget too much. Sure he picked his nose a couple of times but you can't win them all.
Mom & Jacob in his classroom.Jacob was very excited that the Fishes came just for him. I was grateful because Jamie was out of town and had it not been for Josie and the boys, it would have been a pitiful cheering section.
This is Jacob and his friend Keara. They have also done swim lessons together. She is a doll and they are really cute together.
It was a fun morning. He loved his preschool and so did I. He had great teachers and always came home with fun projects. He said the pledge every morning and grace before every snack (both are really funny to hear him say.) He was excited about the letter of the week and sharing day was always a favorite. They had some fun parties too. He was there for 2 years and it is a little strange that he won't be going back in the fall. I guess what is even more strange is, kindergarten, here we come!

Not Enough Hours in a Day

I am still alive, though at times, just barely. We moved a week ago Friday and it has gone well -- meaning all our stuff is in the new house, we no longer live in the old house, and we all still love each other. We really have gotten a lot done. There are not too many boxes left to unpack and I feel like there might be a light at the end of the tunnel. There have many hours and many dear friends helping along the way that has made this possible.

My frustration right now is how consumed I am with the house and just getting it done. I can at least leave the house now since I don't have to wait for one guy to come plug this in or another guy to come fix that. It is still tricky though because I know what I need to do, I just don't have time to do it. I'm running around all day, looking up stuff online to see what I'm going to get (any thoughts on where to find an area rug?), keeping up with Jacob's schedule, doing projects here and there at the house, and trying not to ignore my boys completely in the process. It gets to the end of the day, the boys are in bed, the stores are closed (even though I wish I could go get just one more thing), and I have lots to do but not enough time or energy to do them.

I know it won't go on forever and I am so grateful to the many that helped us get our stuff over here, have taken one or both of the boys, given me advice/opinions, or have lent an ear to listen.

Soon this will all only be a memory ... until then it just kind of sucks.
