Guess Who's Moving

Give up? It's us! Some dear friends are moving to Utah but the good news is that we are moving into their house here. It is a 3 bedroom 2 bath, definitely an upgrade. The boys will have a playroom, we will have a deck in a cute backyard, and even a view of the bay. We are very excited but a little overwhelmed.
This is a picture of last Saturday when we really started getting the packing under way. I just had to laugh when I came into the living room after being in a different room for a bit. It looked like the house exploded, which it kind of did.
We move in next weekend and we are very excited to have more space and a nicer neighborhood. But as my friend Lisa once reminded me, you can take the girl out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of the girl!

2007-2008, RIP

So long Stripey, we had a good run together. Even though I felt there were times you weighed me down a little, you served me well and took quite a beating. You will be missed!

Happy Belated Jules!

I met my darling friend Julie my first year at Snow College. We became friends our second year. It was our aerobics class that sealed the deal. Julie is so much fun! She could always make me laugh and I didn't mind that she stole my thunder. I learned so much from her and I will always appreciate her for that.
Julie has such a kind heart and cares so much about others. I felt like she was always there when I needed her. She has the longest eyelashes ever (so much so that when she was younger and flying by herself, someone actually asked her if she was wearing false eyelashes). She races people all the time, in the car, walking to a building, taking a test, and most of the time the other person has no idea.
I love you Jules and even though we hardly get to hang out, I love that we will be friends forever and ever. I'm sorry that it's late, but Happy Birthday! I hope you took time to celebrate how amazing you truly are!

I'm SO over Parker's allergies

It has only been a couple of months since we found out about Parker's allergy to eggs, milk, and peanuts, yet I am already ready to be done with the whole thing. It is hard enough to get your kids to eat good food and not get stuck in a rut. I feel like with Parker, I live in a rut. I am still trying to figure out how to read labels, what snacks are safe, etc. In the mean time, Parker eats lots of dinosaur chicken nuggets, meatballs, and rice and beans. Lots of stuff has milk, most pasta has eggs or is processed with eggs. He can't have any baked goods. Eating out is starting to feel impossible. Obviously no cheese. The list goes on. Fortunately he likes fruit and some vegetables so he doesn't starve entirely.
I know it will just take a little longer to get find all of the dairy, egg, and peanut free goods and once we do, it will be smooth sailing -- until he leaves the house. There won't be much snack sharing with friends, he will be the kid that always has to bring his own treats to parties, and I will forever be worrying if he ate something I didn't know about and that I might have to break out the EpiPen Jr.
I know he will be okay and that we will get this all sorted out, it all just seems really overwhelming and frustrating right now. The peanut is most likely a lifelong allergy, but there is an 80% chance he could grow out of the egg and dairy. So if you ever think about us or wonder how we manage, just know that I would greatly appreciate your thoughts or prayers for him to out grow either as well as any ideas or suggestions.

Happy Birthday Maggs!

Megan and I have known each other since high school. We hung out some back then, but it wasn't until she joined me at Snow College that we became tight! Megan is so fun be with. She is really easy going and is up for anything. We can always talk to each other about anything and have. When we are together we laugh, eat, and laugh some more and it doesn't get better.
(Megan, Lindsee, Me)
We have done it all. We chased boys in high school (though they usually didn't know or care), we got each other through some tricky spots at college, we made arrows together for a summer (yes arrows - as in bow and ...), and we even went to Hawaii to be bridesmaids for our roommate (pictured above -- please take into account that we did not have control over dress, hair, or camera angle).
I love you Maggs. It is hard living far away from you, but I truly appreciate your friendship and the fact that when we do get to see each other, we pick up right where we left off. Have a great birthday and know that I am thinking of you!

Happy Golden Butterfly Day!!

Jacob has decided that today is Golden Butterfly Day. This is because yesterday as he was looking at his calendar he made at school, he noticed a goldish yellow butterfly sticker on Friday, May 2 (merely for decoration). He then tells me that it is because "tomorrow is Golden Butterfly Day." I asked what do you do on Golden Butterfly Day? He said, "It is a day that you spend time with your family and watch a movie while eating popcorn." So in case anybody was wondering how we will be spending our Friday night, now you know.
I was not at all surprised when this happened because a few months ago out of nowhere, he told me it was "Fancy Day". That is when we were supposed to wear fancy clothes and eat fancy food. We think he has a real future at Hallmark. He can make up more holidays for them to sell cards for.

Happy Birthday Josie!

I met Josie when we moved back into the area and she was living in Lisa's building. You can't help but like Josie right away. She has the best stories, is so funny, and very thoughtful. She is always doing stuff to help others, but she does it in a quite, not in your face way.
Our boys are the same ages and I love that I have someone that is going through the same thing I am and usually at the same time. She is so easy to talk to and always willing to listen. She has a quiet strength about her that I am always amazed by.
Jos, thank you for being such a dear friend and being just so dang much fun to hang out with! I hope you have a fabulous birthday, you certainly deserve it.
