A Little Tired

I put Parker in the backpack while I made dinner a few nights ago. He totally digs it. After awhile, I noticed he wasn't quite as active and a little heavier. I went to the mirror, and sure enough, he was out!
Of course Jamie wasn't home yet, so Jacob took the picture for me. Not bad for a 4 year old.

Our Thanksgiving Report -- It was ERrrrific!

We spent Thanksgving in Virginia with family. Parker had his first Grandpa King butterhorn roll and LOVED it! (But really, who doesn't?)

It, however, did not love him. We figure it was a reaction to the eggs. His face was totally swollen and he had hives everywhere. The picture below was before we took him to the hospital and it got worse by the time we were there.

Jamie and I took Parker to the ER while everyone else (we were with Jamie's parents and older brother and his family) sat down for Thanksgiving dinner. Thank goodness for family, we could just leave Jacob and go. At the hospital, they gave Parker a little more Benadryl and a steroid shot and we waited a lot. Then we waited some more. So we spent 4 hours in the ER on Thanksgiving night, while the turkey got cold.

This is after we got home and he started to look a little more like himself, but still sad and a little pathetic.

Parker was a trooper through the whole thing. He was happy to hang out with Grandpa.

Love Those Crazy Boys

Before the crazy of Thanksgiving, we spent some time with my sister, Lauren, and her family. She has four boys, the youngest is Jacob's age. This is my two boys and the two youngest of hers. I loved that Parker was playing like he was one of the big kids.

Mitchell (4) cracks me up. He was using tape for something and in true 4 year old boy fashion, it ended up on his face.
Collin (6) was so cute with Parker.
Mitch and Jacob (and Collin's face lurking around the side), they are too cute. We just love cousins and though we are sad we don't get to play more, we love the time we do get to spend with them.

The Skyscraper

We went out to eat with my sister and family. They took us to a tasty deli where Jamie just couldn't resist the challenge of "The Skyscraper". It was three pieces of bread, two kinds of meat, cheese, cole slaw, and Thousand Island dressing. As you can see, it was ginormous!
Fortunately, he said it was really good, because he had a lot to go.
When he finished, and he finished, all he could say was, "Yeah I did!"

It was a proud day for us all.

Fun With the Kings

We spent Wednesday afternoon with Jamie's older brother (Nate) and family and had lots of fun. This is Jacob with Nate's oldest, Ashley. They are in front of the cute train we rode at the mall. It wasn't on a track, we went down the mall corridor to an opening, and turned around and came back.

The mall also had a merry-go-round. When Jamie and Jacob went, they were making a different face everytime they came by. Jacob's favorite was the time they pretended to be asleep. These two keep me laughing.
Jacob also loved helping out with the gingerbread house. Grandma and Grandpa bought a cute kit for the kids to put together. Jacob is like his dad, always on.
Jacob had a great time with John and Ashley. Grandpa's busted licking the frosting off his fingers.

Other than a trip to the ER and having to get on a different plane to come home because of a leaky engine, we had a great time!

I am a
Sunflower

What Flower
Are You?

"When your friends think smile, they think of you. There is not a day that goes by that you can't find something good about the world and your fellow human."

So I found this quiz and turns out, I'm a Sunflower. I like to think of myself as a pretty positive person and most days I can find something good in the world. Most days.

Take the quiz and let me know what flower you are!

Dynamic Duo

(Jacob's buddy Charlie joined him in the car to eat candy without the bother of parents.)
(This is not a great picture because it was super foggy and I didn't wipe off the lens first -- oops.) Batman and Robin had a great day! Jacob had his Halloween Party at school, later we had chili at our friend's -- Justin, it was delicious -- then it was off to trunk or treat. Jacob spent a lot of time in the car because he could be warm and eat his candy. I couldn't really blame him. When we got back we knocked a few doors in our neighborhood and had a great time. The best was the next day when Jacob wanted some candy. I gave him his bucket so he could pick out a couple of pieces. When I came back into the room, his candy was on the table and he was starting the piles. "Look Mom, the suckers are all with the suckers, these are all my tootsie rolls, ..." Apparently the sorting of candy is not taught, but an innate skill of all children.
We had a fun Halloween and now I say,
Bring on the Holiday Season!

Highlights of our trip to Utah

The day we left, it snowed. Jacob could not have been more excited. When he woke up, he was running around the house saying, "it snowed, it snowed!" My favorite was after he had been looking out the front window at the snow, he ran into the kitchen and looked out back. He then called out, "it snowed in the backyard too!" Just a little excited. He rolled around in the snow, helped his cousins with a snowman, and loved every minute of it.

We all took a ride on the Heber Creeper. We went on their Haunted Canyon ride. It was lots of fun and only a little spooky. This is Jacob with his cousins before we got on the train. (McKell, Jamie, Cherstin, Braden, and Jacob.)My niece, Cherstin took this picture on the train -- nice job Cherst!
We also had a chance to visit our good friends, the McCauley family. They were in our ward here, but have since moved to Utah. This is their new guy, Jacob, with Parker. They are 6 weeks apart.
Hailey, our Jacob, and Madeline. (Lindsay had just gotten hurt and was too sad to be in the picture.) It was so fun to see those guys and we realized how much we miss hanging out with them.
We went out to dinner with two of Jamie's aunts and family. We saw them lots when we lived in Utah, now we have to settle for quick visits when we are out. They are great.
We also spent an afternoon with my good friend Megan and her kids. However, I was so enjoying myself, I totally forgot to take any pictures. Just know they are darling and we love them dearly.

Jacob went on his first fishing trip. He went with Grandpa and Dad. (There is no proof that Jamie was there because he took all the pictures.)

This is Jacob and Grandpa reeling it in.

Here is the fruit of their labor. Jacob was so excited when he got home. The first thing he said was, "Mom, I caught a rainbow scout and I'm going to keep it as my pet!" I skipped the correction of rainbow trout, and went straight to, "hard to keep it as a pet because it is already dead." We had a little chat and he was okay with just having the experience.

Grandpa fried up the fish the next day and it was delicious!

Yes, I do remember that I have a blog

So it's been awhile then. We were getting ready for our trip to Utah, and there has just been a lot since we got back. No worries though, I have returned.
The boys and I went to Utah in the middle of the month and had a great time. We stayed with my parents and were able to see my sister and her family too.
This is Grandma and Grandpa with the boys at Thanksgiving Point at the Scarecrow Festival. They had carnival games, a little train, and about a bajillion inflatable slides with obstacle courses. They also had a Jr. Haunted House. Jacob took Grandpa through it and told him not to worry because all the scary stuff was just plastic.

We went to see my Grandma too. We had a nice visit and she enjoyed seeing how much Jacob had grown and meeting Parker. This is my nephew Braden, my dad, and Jacob. They loaded up Grandpa's truck and were headed to the yard waste dump. Jacob was in heaven. Grandpa and yard waste, does it get any better?
Parker was just chillin' at Grandma's. He took a little warming up, but he was loving the attention by my mom, sister, and darling neices.
We had such a great time that Jacob was not so sure about coming home.

What's Wrong With This Picture?

If you are like most normal people, nothing really jumps out at you when you look at these pictures other than why in the world am I looking at garbage-related pictures. However, if you are a 4-year old obsessed with garbage, then you will instantly notice that gigantic problem and be bothered by it. These pictures are part of one of Jacob's books where they line up a couple of occupations with the machines they drive (farmer/tractor, firefighter/firetruck, etc.) and you are supposed to match them up. When Jamie was reading the book to Jacob before bedtime the other day, Jacob matched the garbage man up with the garbage truck (of course) and then said "but that garbage man doesn't go with that garbage truck. That is a dumpster garbage truck and the garbage man has a silver garbage can that goes in a rear loader garbage truck." Wow. What do you say to that? Scary enough, he is right. Freaky, but right.

For Your Comparison

Jacob in argyle.Parker, also in argyle.
Jacob at 6 months.
Parker at 7 months.
How cute are my boys? I mean really.

Finally ...

I had hoped to get the boys' pictures done at the end of August, I guess the end of September will have to do.

The brothers.
Jacob did AWESOME. We got his pictures on the first try and then he was a great help with Parker, who was not so awesome. I can't really blame the poor baby though, the girl was nice but a little painful. She kept scaring Parker and making him cry because she was a little loud and in his face. We really had to work for his. Jacob's four year picture.
