New Triple Threat in Town

So today we discovered that Parker is allergic to not one, but three major and very common food items – peanuts, milk, and eggs. Well, the egg is still to be confirmed with more testing, but if that falls through, there was some hint of a wheat allergy that could pick up the slack to make sure he remains a triple threat. We apologize in advance to all our family and friends for having to hear from now on “what’s in that?” EVERY time we eat or even snack together. Wish us luck in trying to make sure our little man doesn’t accidentally eat the wrong thing and swell up like a red bumpy balloon with a throat swollen shut.

Jacob and Charlie Have A Sleepover

Jacob and Charlie had a sleepover. It was not because parents were out of town, or a baby was born, they just really, really wanted to have a sleepover. Who can blame them really? They played, had some dinner, played, watched a movie, played, and eventually slept.

This was just before they were heading in for bed. Obviously they were tired.

They had some popcorn and Jacob picked out Mike & Ike's special for their movie treat. (Good thing I wasn't in front of the TV trying to take this picture, they would have been annoyed.)
This is not how the sleeping arrangements started.
But this is how it ended.

They traded places, added sleeping bags, took them away, changed again, and finally fell asleep. When they woke up the next morning, they picked up right where they left off. Overall, they did a great job and we loved having Charlie over. It is weird to think Jacob is big enough to get excited about a friend staying over. Thank goodness for best friends and sleepovers!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Jacob insisted that he and Parker both wear green shirts that had nothing on them. I guess any pictures would take away from the true spirit of the day, or something.

He made this hat and beard at school today and then ran around saying, "I'm a leprechaun!" If I knew how to make corn beef and cabbage, we would have that for dinner tonight. But I don't so it will probably be chicken. Maybe I'll go crazy and we'll have a green vegetable for the occasion. I remember thinking this holiday was a lot cooler when I was younger. I guess it's like anything else and it is as good as you make it!

So Snuggly

Parker has this big, soft blanket that he curls up in when he is ready to sleep. Doesn't he look just comfy? There are plenty of days I wish I could climb in and snuggle up next to him. There are some days that Jacob actually does.

Are you sitting down?

Parker has actually been taken out of the infant seat. He now faces forward in the big car seat. So long infant carrier, we had a good run.

Our week with Maddie

My dear friend Lisa now has 3 kids. Her little girl is a busy 2 year old that we adore. However, when you are trying to get the extra rest needed from recently having a baby, the extra energy of a toddler is suddenly less cute. So we invited her to come play at our house so her mom could get some rest.
Jacob loves Madeline and was so excited when the day finally came for us to head to Napa and pick her up. They spent the next four days playing, playing, playing.

This picture is actually from Parker's party, but it is so Maddie. She came in with only one leg SOAKED. We couldn't figure out what happened until about 20 minutes later when she starts pulling ice out of her pocket. The best was the fact that she had a look like, "yeah I had ice in my pocket, where else would I put it?"
Even though it was rainy and cold, all they needed were raincoats and boots and they were ready for those muddy puddles. (Lis, sorry again for the ruined tights;))

They went to sleep giggling, woke up giggling, and slept peacefully in between.
Could they be cuter? The boys were thrilled to have her stay with us, and so was I. (And Lisa got some well deserved rest.)
