Parker Has Teeth!

Okay, maybe not these teeth, but his first tooth has come in. It's the bottom left and we could not be prouder. We had one rough night, but overall, it went well.
(Thanks Chels for the Billy Bob pacifier!)

The Recycling Man Known Around the Country

I think it is safe to say my son likes the garbage. As a result, we eagerly await the arrival of the garbage and recycling man every Friday morning. We became friends (when I say friends, I mean we made brownies and Christmas treats for him, he always had a sticker or pamphlet for Jacob, and he was the entertainment at Jacob's 3rd birthday) with our recycling man, Tony. He is a very nice guy and was always really cute with Jacob. Our city recently switched from individual recycling bins to one big blue can. When that happened, we were no longer on Tony's route. I tell you this so you can appreciate how exciting our Friday morning was a couple of weeks ago.
As usual we were on the porch when we heard the truck coming down the street. It was a new garbage guy, but for Jacob that just mean another hero. He was really nice and stopped to talk to us. As we talked I tried to explain my son and his obsession (you don't truly appreciate it until you spend a little time with him) and for some reason Tony came up in the conversation. As it turned out, this guy was friends with Tony and he went right to his truck to get him on the radio. A minute later, Jacob was standing in the garbage truck saying "Hi Tony, I miss you." I then heard Tony laugh and say, "Hey buddy! You just made my day." Jacob then asked how the rear loader was, to which Tony responded with more laughter and, "it's all good." They exchanged their good-byes and we thanked our new garbage man for helping us talk with an old friend. Needless to say, that was the highlight of Jacob's day, and I'm pretty sure it was for Tony too.
This is Tony and Jacob about 6 months ago.
This is Tony letting Jacob push the button to actually dump the recycling into the truck.

Have you ever seen a cleaner bib?

(Parker enjoyed some prunes tonight!)

Our Mad Moves

Star in Your Own JibJab! It's Free!(Just look what you've started Josie!) When it was finished and we watched it, Jacob said, "Mom, when did I get those clothes?" A fine line between fantasy and reality.

8 Years

Today Jamie and I celebrate our anniversary. It was eight years ago today that we went into the Salt Lake Temple and were sealed to become an eternal family. I can't tell if eight years is a long time or not since it feels like we have always been together.

At the risk of embarrassing Jamie, which it will, I love him more now than I did then. He is a dedicated husband and father, he honors his priesthood, provides for our family, always makes me laugh, and treats me like a queen.

I love you Jamie, it's been a great 8!!

Naked Clean Up

Jacob decided to clean up his toys before he took a bath,
but after he got naked.

Sweet, Sweet Fauxhawk

At Jacob's request, I took a picture of his "cool dude hair" and put it on my blog.
We were channeling his cousin Max as we got ready today.
(The strained look is because he was growling for the picture.)

Sweet Relief

I am finally finished! I started last week and just finished tonight. In the meantime I have ignored my family, friends, house, and my responsibilities in general. Sorry 'bout that. I'm sure my boys will be glad to finally have me back.

We got into the spirit of the final book and went to one of the many, Harry Potter parties at Barnes and Noble. We dressed Jacob up as Malfoy (which consisted of his gray dress pants, a white button down shirt, his green soccer tie, his dad's black t-shirt tied around his neck, and about a cup of gel in his hair) and headed off to meet up with our friends, the Hisermans.

Jacob and William (Malfoy and Potter) had their picture taken as part of the festivities. Another event we enjoyed was the costume contest, which Jacob won. He won his category of "Best Wizard under the age of 13" for which he received a golden snitch and some stickers. Then he won "Best in Show" and received a $25 gift certificate to Barnes and Noble, which he promptly spent a portion of on a shark book.

Even Parker got in on Potter-mania, trying on the glasses his brother picked up at the party. All in all, it was a fun night and I am relieved to no longer be consumed by a 17 year old wizard.

Parker's first and last

This is Parker's new mega saucer and it's his first big toy.
He loves it! A big thank you to our friend Chelsea for putting it together.

Parker's last bath in the kitchen sink,
he is just way too big to fit anymore.
(You just want to squish him don't you?)

Going Green?

Nope. Just supporting my boy. Love that garbage/recycling man!
